can a McCulloch Chainsaw start side ways?
i put a McCulloch mac 10 10 auto Chainsaw on a goped and the only way i can mount it is to put it side ways were the carburetor is facing at a angle down and it wont start (i put some gas in the cyclinder and it fire up but then it died) well when it was a chainsaw it run perfectly but now i think the gas aint falling into the cyclinder cause its facing not completely vertical but at like http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj3/scrapkilla321/THEONE.jpg
I'm afraid there is something wrong with your McCullough saw. All chain saws are make to run in any position! Normally they are started in an upright position as this is the safest way to start them with the saw resting solid on the ground. In this position the saw blade is vertical (straight up and down at 90 degrees to the ground). The same position that the saw is in when cutting off limbs on a tree or cutting the tree into lengths after it has been felled. However when you want to cut down a tree the saw is laid on it's side parallel to the ground. So you can see a chainsaw has to be able to operate in any position it is in. If you are having problems with your saw you will need to take it somewhere and have it fixed. As a word of advice I wouldn't spend too much on it being a McCullough. Sorry to say it but I have owned 3 of them and not one of them was worth the gas it took to run them. Not the smaller saws anyway. The larger saws they make for professional use are good saws, but the small Mac's are junk. The small homelite's aren't much better either, a little but not a lot I cut firewood for years supplying homeowners and campgrounds with firewood as well as heating my own house with wood. I have bought and used various saws (husqvarna, ecco, stihl, homelite, poulan and mccullogh). Without a doubt the worst saw was McCullough and the best was Stihl. I quit cutting wood for an income in 1991. I totally wore out 3 McCullough's, 2 homelite's, 1 ecco and 1 poulan. After years of use the small Stihl I sold and I still have and use a 041 farm Boss by Stihl that I guess will never wear out as it still is in fine shape today and I bought it in 1975, 33 years ago! However it is getting tired now and it takes me sometimes 3 pulls to get it running as when it was new NEVER over one. If you are putting a lot of money in the machine of yours you might want to upgrade to a better saw.

So, I thought I'd call him something else. Hell, almost ANYTHING is better than "Miff": "Periwinkle", "Higgs", "Boson". All superior names for a superior cat. But Miff? He ain't listening (and it doesn't help with Sarah and Imogen laughing at my futile attempts to rename the cat and calling him "Miff" just to spite me). And the lesson here? If you want to connect with your prospects, customers, and clients you have to be both talking their language and saying the things they're listening for. In other words, as a copywriter you need to be writing for your audience, not yourself. Miff wants to hear "Miff", not any of the other stuff. That *I* prefer to call him "Periwinkle", "Higgs", or "Boson" is irrelevant. He's Miff, and Miff he's going to stay (although in a definitely not-childish attempt to prove my point, I now call him "Miffwinkle", thus "proving" he likes the "winkle" suffix). Take this copywriting tip to heart, and I promise, your sales will soar.
