Chainsaws: Is a 50cc engine underpowered for a 20" bar?
I had generally heard you want at least a 60 cc engine if you are running a 20 inch chain. But I see reputable manufacturers are offering 20" bars on 55 cc models (Husky and Stihl, Echo) although the Stihl Dealer did say he personally would never put over an 18 on a MS 290. There is even a Poulan Pro with a 50cc and 20 inch is the standard bar and chain.I can hardly believe this would be ideal on a Poulan (cheap Husky).
